I'm making a custom center console and find that the seat belt latch is too low and the release button is covered. I was wondering if there's another (German?) car application that will accept the 914 seat belt tongue that has a longer anchor cable. In the below photo, the latch and cable measures about 10" from the end of the latch to the center of the mounting hole. For my application, I need this length to be 12" - 13". Maybe a latch from a 944, 911, VW, Audi, or ??? is longer and accepts the 914 belt? Any ideas or suggestion?

Thanks,

Andys

I bought new belts from a member vendor in San Diego that will work for your application. They are similar to these http://www.mamotorworks.com/acvw?frame=1.8218. The cable on the receiver is a couple of inches longer than the stock belts. PM me if you want the member's contact info.

Maybe this one will work ..... 12-7/8" long.

Yeah, that looks good (length, etc). There's no way of telling by this catalog page if it is compatible with the 914 seat belt tongue. Would you happen to know?

No, sorry, I don't know. Obviously they sell Porsche compatible stuff, but the safest thing to do is call them and ask.

Thought I'd report back on this: I called peparts and they told me this receiver will not accept the 914 seat belt tongue (with the round hole). I did look at a '75 911, and it indeed does use what looks to be the same receiver as the '75 914 that I have (and it does accept the 914 tongue) though this doesn't help me in my quest to find a longer one.
