Hi everyone.

I have a 74 2.0 with the stock fuel inj.

A year ago I used to work as a mechanic in a shop for european cars.
After I quit my former (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ar15.gif) boss charged me for my engine rebuild.
Now the car is still not running and I give him the best of help.

I built in a .255 cam from WebbCam for stock fuel inj.
I know about the problems with interfering with the stock set up.

But I would like to hear, if anybody built that cam in its car,
and got it to work with the stock fuel inj.

That cam is listed as being for a hydraulic lifter engine with FI.

A hydraulic cam has a reduced base circle to give the lifters time to pressurize. I'm not sure if that is in addition to the lift? or if it is a shorter lobe with a shorter base circle for the same lift spec.

I have heard, though, that running mechanical lifters on a hydraulic cam will flatten the lobes in short order. No personal experience though, sorry.

The lobe angle is more acute for the hydraulic profile. Use it with the hydraulic lifters and you'll be OK.

I ran it with the hydraulic lifters, that didnt work well.
I have the feeling, they dont know how to set it up!

the car runs,
but too rich and the plugs faul after 20 minutes.

there are a couple other problems with valves and injectors.

the question is:

Will the car run after all other problems have been solved,
or will the cam continue distroing thing?

Also is here somebody who build that cam in his car?

This cam has profile characteristics that are designed especially for hydraulic lifters. Did you employ hydraulic lifters of solid lifters with it?

Stock EFI HATES hydraulic lifters, especially D jet.

but for the original poster sake:

the cam and the lifters are matched (wear in as matched sets)
you can't change lifters without splitting the case and changing the cam.

Djet doesn't like hydro lifters so switch to a Ljet setup and you'll be fine.
