I now look forward to every outing in my car. It has been such a pleasure to drive since sorting out
all of the the little problems with the turbo modification ( no more smoke cloud ). I have logged quite a few miles over the past week. The car drives beautifully, very smooth, it seems to have more low end torque than when it was in stock 3.0 cis form, I attribute this I think to the Flowmaster muffler 3" in straight through 3" out or less restricted breathing, back pressure? All I know is that it has a better grunt down low now. For everyday driving I barely have to open the throttle while advancing through the gears. It drives like Jekyll and Hyde, nice and easy or freighting. I look forward to every highway on and off ramp. Especially the on ramps where at times I may see the end of 5th gear. The car is a beast on boost, presses you firmly into your seat and makes your eyes as big as moons. ( just ask Qarl ) The boost starts to build and you anticipate what's coming, all of a sudden your shifting through the gears fast as hell and holding on for life, I still find it a little unsettling at times but I cant get enough of it. (reminds me of fast blasts on my KZ1000 motorcycle which scares me also.) It's a lot like going up and over the hill on the roller coaster and exhilarating the life out of you. Then ease back the rpm's down to a smooth comfortable ride. I am very happy with the turbo running boost pressure at 9lbs with the fuel enrichment and dont see a need to push it any further, I dont have any dyno results to confirm this but others that have done this mod to there SC's say they are making around 300 or more horsepower. This is the car Porsche should of built along with the 930 but I also realize if they had, the 914 would of been there fastest and best handling production car, why would they want that. I hope others follow my lead and turbocharge there 3.0 and 3.2 engined cars when looking for a less expensive and different approach to horsepower gains. I have the answers if needed, to show you the way. If you do some searches you should find many of my past threads on this. I put up a vote last fall to turbo or paint the car and turbo won out, now I can start getting the car looking nice with new paint, seals and trim this winter and make it look worthy of it's new heart. Start thinking 914 Turbo Carrera as a reliable alternative. Attached image(s) ![]() |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) More pics are good. And I want one too! But that ain't gonna happen for a while. What type of enrichment system did you use? I'm planning on turboing one of my CIS Rabbits, and wondering what the easiest enrichment method is?

Thats exactly what I was planning for enrichment. Where do you have the injector firing into? The throttle body, or the intake tube thingy? Is 4psi the best boost for enrichment to kick in? I was thinking around 6psi, but that was just a guess.

3 or 4 is the safest, I found that minimal ignition retard if any with the enrichment, I have had no pre-detonation problems with my MSD BTM retard ignition set at 1/2.
I am firing into the intake just before the throttle plate with the bov vacuum line below the throttle plate I have had no unspent fuel blowing out the bov. |
