Might have already covered this, but did you have the side skirts before you positioned the flares? Rockers, yes. FG and I was completely unhappy with them. Had to do a lot of rework to the bottom edge, added about 1/2" to the bottom and cut off about 1/2" of the top edge. I only used them for a ref. |

I position the flares to match the narrow body wheel opening. The rockers are NOT a good way to locate the flares.
I also prefer to cut the old fender away as I weld the flare on. This compensates for the minor shift that develops as the welding occurs. Attached image(s)

GT flare mysteries:
im about to get into a flare install and the one thing that i rarely see is the solution for the bottom where that 45 deg angle is. I just cant leave that mis-matched geometry in there. it makes the rocker gap funky the only part I cant figure is how to make the inside joint look OEM. even if fitment of the fabbed angle is perfect there will still be a seam inside this will be a boatload of fun to make so Ill post pics. I hope the owner goes for the matching metal rockers since I really want to make some. I think they will be easier than the bottom edge correction of the flares |

I see that even teh 911 flare has that flat section that blends to the bottom edge
what happened to our 914 flares? why dont they have that in teh stamping? the group buy guys should try to address this if possible before next production run. |
