Hi all,
So I'm a noob here (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) and have a paint color question. I owned a boxster a few years back but this is my first 914. It's a black '74, all orginal as far as I can tell. Factory 2.0 with FI. Bought it a couple weeks ago, replaced all the hoses and rebuilt the distriator and have been driving it for the last week or two.

My goal is to fix it up myself and drive it. I want to keep it as orginal as I can. It has survived this long in tack and all orginal and feel it should stay that way to perverve history. Granted it def shows its age and needs work, but it's in decent shape.

BUT... I hate black! lol

So I thought I get your input on it's color.

Should I keep it factory black?
Should I stay with a factory color like the bright Orange?
Should i go with bright red with a white top?
Should I go with a blue?

What about a nice green?

No surprise that I voted for black, which BTW, is also a period correct color. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif)

Need more advise.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I have a black car with perfect chrome bumpers and rusty, dented chrome rockers. I am assuming it came stock in all black with chrome front to back. I was wanting to go "bumble Bee" style to add some color and add yellow front to back along the bottom. BUT I can not paint perfectly good chrome bumpers, I'd be retarded. so.....

1) go back with black and chrome by buying chrome rocker.
2) buy new bumpers and new rocker to paint yellow (& sell chrome ones)
3) buy new rockers or repair mine and paint yellow but keep chrome bumpers
4) paint rockers black and keep chrome bumpers

I'm not sure option 3 will look right.
The wheels do need repainted to match whatever color, Black, Silver, or yellow.

Rockers were always black unless an LE model (bumblebee or creamsickle) never chrome.
Personally I like the chrome bumpers, especially if you're keeping all of the chrome trim (sail panel trim and the like). If you go with colored rockers go with colored bumpers.

Chrome bumpers are worth more, so if you need $ for your project, you could sell them and buy painted bumpers for 1/2 of what the chromies are worth.

Think about colored wheels with a matching PORSCHE stripe on the side.
But definitely keep the chrome bumpers and black out the rockers. Then no criticism for trying to clone an LE.
Colored rockers make the car look higher I think.

Post a side view our your car.
