I need to buy a new front valance for my car and since I will be putting a V8 radiator up front I was wondering if the GT style with partial cutout in the bumper and partial cutout in the valance would be sufficient for the V8 setup. Actually I already have a solid fiberglass bumper that I plan on cutting to match the opening in the GT valance I want to buy. Any forseen problem with such a set up? TIA!

QUOTE(DougC @ Sep 1 2004, 10:03 AM) Any forseen problem with such a set up? the original GT seems a bit small (it was only for a oil-cooler after all), i know of a few guys that run the 916-style front bumper with SBC's, plenty of air through that cutout ... Andy |

Andy's right ... the 916 has a BIG opening ... you will need 144 square inches which is about 6-1/2" x 22". You might also check on the Gruppe 5 front from AIR in SoCal.
The exit needs to be twice as large !! And the puller fan should be about 1,000 cfm for each 100 HP. Don't scrimp on the cooling part of the conversion. Good luck ... you will enjoy the result ! |
