According to this link,

http://members.rennlist.com/chuxter/901&915ratios.htm

there is an optional 7:27 ring & pinion for the 901 transmission. Or is it 915 specific? Has anybody actually dealt with one?

Yes, I know I could just move up to 16 inch wheels, and have more options in tires / gearing. Just thinking out loud, that's all.

Thanks

They were an option, mostly for race purposes. I'd expect they are more rare than a 904 mainshaft. (Those I have seen.) That is, unless it was standard in some gearbox, but I don't have my tables available. I would check those places that sell trannys and gear sets.

Your pinion is acutally part of your pinion (or output) shaft.
To change the ring and pinion you need to change the ring and the output shaft.
I don't know of those existing, except maybe on the 904.
If they are out there they should sell a lot of them unless they are cubic dollars.

Yes they are available...
only in a couple of differnt sizes (ratios) though

PCA club racers like them in the stock production classes, because the rules do not allow gear ratio changes, but do allow pinion changes....

I know 2 production class PCA club race cars using different pinions. One is a -6 and the other a -4
