Any advice would be very helpful right about now on getting that bolt out. Not enough to bite on.

The top bolt is usually an allen head bolt. Get it from under the car with a long extention.
Losen the 2 big bolts at the back of the tranny this will allow the engine to drop a little and give you more room to reach the bolt. Do not lossen the bolts all the way but enough to start dropping the tranny down about an inch or 2
