i've looked high and low for a forum like this one for Ferrari's. either i have had bad luck, or it doesnt exist.

anyway, a friend has a 1967 275 GTB/4 which is still in the shop, and has been in the shop for 3 years. (at Bill Carr's Enzo Motorsports, does anyone know this guy?) Bill supposedly does good work, all i have seen is that he's very knowledgeable, and is meticulous, but i don't know much about ferraris, or about this car specifically. after the engine rebuilt, we're gonna put it in the market and sell it. i dont even know where to take it to get it appraised, anyone here have any ferrari resources?

ps. car is not in concourse condition, its in GOOD to excellent condition, but not concourse.

That car is going to be worth a LOT. Maybe not by Ferrari standards, but certainly by used car standards. The 275GTB is on my top 5 list of most desirable cars ever, and the long-nose /4 model is at the top of the range. Certainly six figures, and probably way into the six figure range. Those were $1.5M cars at the top of the silly boom in the late 80s, up from the $100K range at the beginning of the 80s. That's the sort of car that's often sold by the major auction houses.

I agree that ferrarichat.com is a good place for general information. I think you'll find that because the price of restoring a Ferrari is so high that a car in not concourse condition will not get a lot of interest unless the price is very reasonable. Yes the 275 GTB is a very desirable model, but rich guys didn't get rich by overpaying for anything. Add the cost of the engine rebuild that has to be recouped, and your friend might find he needs to hang onto the car a while longer before the market will pay what he needs. Excellant cars sell in the current market, average cars sell cheap or not at all. I just finished an engine rebuild on a 365GT and I will have to hang onto the car for a few years now before the market will pay for the rebuild. The good part is I get to keep my Ferrari and justify it as a smart financial move to my wife. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Gret a copy of Keith Martins Sports Car market magazine. Very informative and you will learn from people who are monitoring the auctions and sales of Ferraris. Not some ebay sellers with stars in there eyes.
