I don't believe it. In some photos the roof isn't crushed and there's no broken glass on the side windows. The shadow cast by the tires also doesn't look real to me. And why all the low resolution, black and white, scratchy pictures?
Also, the exhaust would only be visible if it was a very cold morning and the car wasn't warmed up. |

B/W pics are from newspapers. I think that the shadows are correct. You do have a point about the fact that the roof isn't dented. Maybe those cars are tough.

QUOTE(anthony @ Sep 27 2004, 08:55 PM) Also, the exhaust would only be visible if it was a very cold morning and the car wasn't warmed up. the shadows look OK, also note the angle of the sun(very long shadows), this *was* taken very early in the morning, i assume they had slept in the car and had the motor running and the guy just had jumped out to run around the block to wake up. i scanned the picture for obvious signs of "fake" and couldn't find any. in fact, when you blow up the picture, you can see the "strings" they used to tie down the wood reflect correctly in the paint of the car. looks authentic to me ... This has been around before, like 3 or 4 years ago. You notice the wheels are SUBSTANTIALLY different diameters? There are other pix not shown here, many of which show major fakery. Why isn't there any busted glass? The rear window would be toast, and likely the left rear door glass as well. The laws of physics would have to be suspended for that load to even get on the car ................. Photoshop at its best ................. The Cap'n

Thank you Cap' for setting these guys straight. Also, there's no way that load would stay on the car with home depot twine. It would pull the front door handle right off.
Also: The view through the rear windows on the driver's side also looks totally fake. The car is in different spots in different pictures. And, the black and white pictures don't look like scans of newsprint (there are no dots). |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/bs.gif) . i've trucked my share of plywood. here's why. there is no metal banding on the plywood. it would be sliding off. you would have to load it with a forklift. no way to pull the forks out from the back or load it from the front. look at the way the edge of the pywood runs from the front of the roof and obscures the top of the rear window and door. there would have to be daylight showing over the rear trunk if the top wasn't crushed. it's tied up all wrong. and... i own a jetta. it's a stout little car. but not that stout. plus the front twine runs to the the fresh air grill or the wiper arm.
