I like it, it makes me want to get another one and build a race car. Too bad my wallet says "No way".

i like your idea. your front/rear "overlap" could be very elegant if done well. it's onorthodox, but could suit the 914 quite well! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/clap56.gif)

Thanks. The orange and grey shown on the car are not exactly the colors I had in mind but the closest that I could replicate with my feeble photoshop skills. I was thinking of using the color scheme from this motorcycle:

What happened? The two tone grey looked good but a little bland for a race car. The latest looks like the blob that ate a 914.
I'm in the same position, I want to paint my car and keep kicking around different color schemes and nothing grabs me. |

Is there anyone here who can do a better job of putting the colors on the car and still keep the contour shadows?
nebreitling: The toughest thing I think will be trying to find the "line" that looks natural to the eye for the separation between the two colors - particularily around the front wheel wells. drew: *lol* The grey two tone was the wrong picture file that I uploaded by accident. I too think it is too "bland" for a race car. You don't care for my paint scheme? What would you suggest instead? I'm open to any and all ideas. |

I was thinking of doing the color break at a diagonal from the upper rear point of the door to the front top edge of the front wheel well.

QUOTE(soloracer @ Sep 27 2004, 07:41 PM) The toughest thing I think will be trying to find the "line" that looks natural to the eye for the separation between the two colors - particularily around the front wheel wells. yeah, that's exactly the crux of the issue, as i see it. there may not be enough definition of line there to carry a color change. going all the way down the fender with a single color is "close" to what your going for... but in person, there may be more obvious definition with the body kit. |

I dont know if retro floats your boat, but you could use some old porsche schemes. I think the Gulf seperation looks very nice.

Excellent. Much better than my feeble attempt. The blue line was not meant to be that big (nor blue) I was thinking of a black pinstripe between the two colors. I wonder what it would look like with the colors reversed (orange top/grey bottom) Or maybe replace the grey with blue?
P.S. You're pretty darn quick with the "save picture" button. That two tone photo was only up for a few minutes before I replaced it with my orange/grey attempt. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) |

Pretty close! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I posted at exactly the same time with my rendition. Your photoshop work is much more professional than mine. How hard would it be to flip the colors and put the orange on the top and grey on the bottom?
