I picked up a Mocal sandwich adapter with built in thermostat for my oil cooler a few years back. At the time, I used some brass connectors to hook up to my oil line hoses and I think they are just "pipe thread" fittings.

I was able to tighten them down only about half way, with some threads still visable.

Does this adapter require some special fittings?

It had started leaking around the threads after a few years.

Have I permanantly ruined my adapter?

I used "pipe thread sealant" on the threads before assembly. Should I use something different, like teflon tape?

thanks

I believe it is 1/2" pipe thread.
