What height were the dealer fitted early positive stripes for the '14?
I bought the side stripes from a guy on eBay in Falkirk, Scotland...3.5 inches from top of top black stripe to bottom of bottom of the three stripes. Have I been sold a 911 stripe kit instead of a 914 sized one?? I bought an original NOS rear trunk stripe which I thought would be the same 'height' as the side stripe so as to compleement, but that is 2.5 inches!? I wanted to recreate this....(Below pic) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i279.photobucket.com-13736-1334258411.1.jpg) Any thoughts Andrew Liverpool, England 1973 914 1.7 US Spec. |

I may be wrong here, but I thought both the positive and negative stripes were the same size ROW. Can't vouch for that with sincerity. |

Andrew, according to an accessories brochure you can find at bowlsby.net, the original side stripes were in fact 3.5 inches top to bottom, and the rear deck stripes were 2.5 inches in width (or top to bottom). Based on that information, it appears as though you have a correct set.

I don't know about the early stripes, but the later negative stripes are 3.125 inches, or about 80mm

In that pic, note that PORSCHE fits completely within the door area. Most aftermarket ones do not, and are for the 911, although the seller will tell you it "fits" the 914. Well of course it fits, but is it OE spec? nope.

Here is a great looking low miles car for sale on this website today. It would look SOOOO much better with the correct stripes. |
