Hats please!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)

CF sounds nice, but will you have them in proletariat plastic for all us cheap bastards? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

By the way... I have been using all mag sign material to cover my engine bay for over a year and it works great.

I use two strips for ease of stowing away under my hood. Has never blown off even at highway speeds.

Someday I'll have an umbrella. And a car cover. And, and, and..... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

You leave the mag cover on while driving? Wouldn't that completely negate the point of having a grill? No air flow.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I knew that would be confusing.

When I ran 48IDAs, my rain tray no longer fit. If I was caught in the rain, I would place the all mag in such a away that it would cover a good portion of the grill to help keep out most of the rain, but still allow circulation with no rise in temps. Worked very well.

I now have 44IDFs and can run a rain tray on my stock lid.

However, I now run a GT lid that is completely open. So I still keep the all mag as backup. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

For winter months or rainy spells I just swap out my stock lid with rain tray. I cut slots in the two mounting brackets of both the lids and they slip right out and are quick and convenient to change.

I dont want to piss on anyones parade...BUT...Can anyone here tell me why they are running a GT engine lid ? Can anyone tell me why the factory did (no speculation.. I'm looking for hard facts)

I find them useless for street cars and race cars. The 4cyl cars breathes through the 2 tiny slits on either side of the engine lid.. the stock 6 breathed through the stock mesh...

Chuck Davis did a few temp tests a few years ago. I looked but can't find the link to his old site with the data.
Biggest diff was to have a deflector aim air down onto the engine lid as its a low pressure area to supply just more air.

Good answer Andy.. NOT. The number one complaint AFTER people get over the COOL factor... my engines looks like crap if I get caught in the rain. Number 2. My engine is hydro locked, what do I do ?

The joy's of answering a shop phone daily... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

It looks very, very cool.. but I have problems keeping the 914/6 warm enough when I use it as a daily driver (only 10 miles to work). I don't need any MORE cooling air going through the engine compartment.

P.S. Yes, I know the answer is to drive it more... but I also like to sleep in. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

i don't know. i never complaint ...
if it makes the engine run cooler, fine, all the better. my engine has been rained on for 2 seasons, never had a problem.

i'm more concerned about my top leaking in the rain!

Just go to any *good* sheet metal shop and have them make them for you outta galvanized.

I would guess they could do it in less than an hour outta scrap. For like, $80?

It doesn't take long to put on my cover, unless it's windy. It also solves the weather seal leak on the side glass to roof seal.
