So does anybody know if this is the first 914 to run at Pikes Peak?

A custom tube-frame race car won Pike's Peak running a 914 engine waaaaay back when. I wish I could remember the year. And the class.

No, I mean in the 80s, possibly the 70s. Running a Type IV engine, as used in the four-cylinder 914 cars.

I needed some motorcycle parts last week but my guy was at Pikes Peak as the suspension specialist for the Lightning electric motorcycle. Turns out they were the fastest motorcycle this year, beating all the gasburners and 20 seconds faster than the second place Ducati. That's the first time any kind of electric vehicle's been the fastest up the hill.

When I was looking up their results I saw that a four wheel drive Peugeot 208 with a twin turbo V6 was fastest overall this year, beating the previous best time by almost 45 seconds. Good Lowered. Car has more than 1 hp per kilo of weight.

Rick Mears drove a IV powered buggy in 1976 I believe. I'll dig up a pic of it.

Here is the 2014 power plant and driveline.
Something much more interesting, 492 CI LS based, 2800 rpm/600lb torque, 900+hp!

How in the world do you get a 914 to hook up that much power?

Tony
