I am sure that others have done it so am looking for some advise before I try. Have a '71 with the fixed seatbelts. Have picked up a later set of retractable seat belts. So what has to be done to retrofit them?

I don't know what it takes to get them in an early car, but I do know that the later retractable belts hardly ever work right. I use 924 belts, which work great, and fit in a later car with very little modification (a pin on the reel mechanism is too big, I just took mine off)

QUOTE(Tom73 @ Oct 14 2004, 10:42 AM) So what has to be done to retrofit them? won't work! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) the factory changed the shape of the rear-firewall to be able to mount the retracteables ... there is, however someone here on the board who did fit a VW-Bug (? i believe) retracteable seatbelt, i remember reading about it a while back ... i actually like my early belts (non-retracteable) much better, they give you plenty of support for all that high-speed cornering i'm doing.
