Are the bumper rubber strips factory or reproductions?

So no comments on oval-ling the bumper mount holes in the chassis to accommodate the bolt alignment issue?

So no comments on oval-ling the bumper mount holes in the chassis to accommodate the bolt alignment issue? My question about the source of the rubber strips is about if they have the correct dimensions. If the rear panel of you car is original, then a stock bumper and rubber strip should fit without modifying the mounting holes. |

do the plate light units bolt up to hole in rubber top..if not its aftermarket The rubber top of the bumper is aftermkt. The dogbones are original. The bumper itself is original. The center to center distance of the dogbones, the thredded captured nuts in the bumper, and the holes in the rear of the car are all the same measurement. The problem is that the current orientation (placement) of the holes in the chassis, means the lip on the top of the bumper interferes with the ledge under the lights. If those four chassis holes were lowered by 3/8ths of an inch, all would line up. Or if I removed the lip on the top of the bumper...all would line up. I think the path of least resistance (as the bumper has been nicely re-chromed)...would be to "oval" the chassis holes to move them effectively lower so the bumper lip clears the ledge. |

I solved the bumper issue. Installed the springs and rear lid solo...it was challenging.
And yes there was blood, sirens and children crying. Moving along. Getting that "total filespace required " error when trying to download iphone pics again. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) |

Not sure what it is called...but I need a decent upholstery piece that fits over the front of the targa bar, that the latches poke through. Mine is rough and it looks like a challenge to recover as some of the hard foam on the ends is missing. Doesn't look like 914 rubber has them on the website. Anybody have a decent spare?

Ok, Rumpelstiltskin is back. I have been slacking on the six, but getting other stuff done. The BMW motorcycles restos have new homes (thanks BaT), Lots of other projects and issues are resolved, my son's car and 911 engine are with him finally, and I'm still retired although it doesn't feel like it. This car has not been on the road in too long. My commitment is to do the 4 corners tour in the fall. I'm working on the interior and the sails at the moment. Although I have the original tired 2.0, the plan was to build a 2.4 S Weber engine, but that sort of stalled. I have all the parts and it is ready to be built, but I added another possible scenario...Ferg set me up with a 2.4 T MFI engine out of a 72 911. I haven't done a leakdown (and they are not always reliable), but when I do and if the numbers are decent, I'm thinking of installing the 2.4 T engine and then driving it. Depending on how that feels, I may or may not go ahead and build the 2.4 S Weber engine. This current scenario takes the engine rebuild off of the to-do list and moves me closer to driving, and a 2.4 T engine is a decent bump from the stock 2.0 six engine. And hey, installing the 2.4 means its not in the way on a floor dolly. I'm essentially storing it in the six for the time being. And...if I like the MFI, I have all the parts to bump that T engine up to a 2.4 S MFI engine. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Ok...stripped the 911 tin off of the 2.4 and started to mock up the 6 tin. Looks like I have everything I need, including the bizarre right rear tin for the MFI belt. I pulled out the engine harness and it looks solid, but there are areas I will need to rejuvenate. And, as it is a carb harness, I may need to add some wiring. If I post a picture of the harness, will you guys help me to figure out what goes where, and what I need to add?
I'm hoping I don't need to buy a new MFI harness. Also 914 Rubber does not have the hose for the heat exchanger bung to the MFI warm up ...hose looks to be 1 inch ID and insulated. Where to buy? |

I helped him with that install. From what I recall we had to add a few different wires to the org 6 harness. It wasn't too bad once we figured out what pins to use. I wish I had made a schematic of it then for future reference. He later went to a 3.2 with Webers and removed the extra wires. I thought Clay was running a MFI 6 in his 914 before the 4.0 swap? If so maybe he can help with the wiring info. @ClayPerrine |

So this is my 2.0 engine harness from the six. It looks to me like it is missing the alternator harness...which wouldn't be too difficult to re-create. I just need to determine if my alternator has the voltage regulator built in or separate. And I need to figure out the wiring for the decel switch. I reached out to Clay P but didn't hear back....holidays I guess. If anyone has modified their harness to accommodate MFI, feel free to school me.

Alternator harness is under and to the right of 2x4 block. looks like internal voltage regulator.

Matt is correct.
The end under the 2x4 goes to alt w/int reg. The other end goes on the starter ( + ) stud along with a separate hot ( + ) wire from the battery. The yellow circle is the alt wires that mount to the relay board. Attached image(s)
