I think it is the same but I have been wrong before! I got rid of my front bracket 39 years ago because our state doesn't require a front tag. I did some research maybe this link will help.

They are different....at least for the early steel bumpers.
The front one has "stand-offs" to give the correct angle. The rear just has flat tabs. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

i have a front then. The holes for it dont line up for th rear. I need a rear then

the rears are pretty easy to find. I have one up north here but I'm sure you can get one locally.
