When I used to road race old 2 strokes we would round out and smooth all edges & transitions on the piston skirt, even the hole for the piston pin. I realize a 4 stroke piston & rings are a tighter fit in the bore than a 2 stroke, so maybe this is not needed, since less chance of piston rock? The new AA pistons I have just seem to have sharp edges on all the skirts & was just curious if anyone dresses them before installation.

I dont know about the pros or cons of chamfering itself but most piston sets are very closely balanced and any removal would need to be exactly the same for all 4 pistons

Also, on s 2 stroke the piston is part of the induction system, covering and uncovering the transfer ports and exhaust ports. Chamfering may improve airflow if done properly, not an issue with a 4 stroke.
