How many weeks would you wait to get your money back on a return check for an item sold in the Classified ads here before you tell everyone the nasty details?
short version: mailed a check April 5 cleared the bank April 12 parts not recieved until May 16 opened box to find they were not what i expected. mailed back May 19 still no refund. as of June 4 - still on vacation... today is June 30 still no refund... How long would you wait before telling the rest of the story? |

I think they give you only a month to resolve things with paypal. After that, you're out of luck. Just saying how it's done legally these days. Happened to me buying an original 72 bus air cleaner and carbs of samba with paypal. I gave the guy a break after no show for 2 weeks, called him, sob story, he was going to ship, 2 more weeks no show, no answer and I was screwed out of $200. If it's not going to happen by 1 month later, you have to call the bank that the account is set up through, initiate the process, agree to testify against them, which seemingly will not ever happen. The bank then sends you letters to the effect that if you authorized the payment, then they won't deal with it. This is Wells Fargo. Again, different situation from yours maybe, but after a month, I'd say it's probably played out.

You're doing us a favor to tell us who it is as we don't want to go through what you describe. . .
I'd also let him know you're going to file a police report with the Cyber Crimes unit with you police. . In my city, it is called the 'Financial Crimes unit, who handles computer fraud. .. He may not realize it, but that is what this is called. . . Save all those emails. . maybe we'll see you on Judge Judy. |

You should tell the story now...actually, you should have a couple of weeks ago.
The seller may be scamming people in the interim....best to put a stop to it now. |

I'd out him now for the reasons discussed above. If he has a "legitmate" reason for the delay, he can post it here. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ar15.gif)

what the hell is a legitimate reason?? your wife is giving birth or you're in the hospital with tubes in your arms?
10 minutes to box and what ever it takes to drive to the post office. 1 1/2 hours max and that's way generous. for smaller items i box my stuff the day i post the ad. DONE! READY TO GO! all i need is payment, address the box, and ship. people make way too much of it. k |

It is NOT always that easy. Inexperience, health issues, jobs, family can all get in the way of little things like getting to the post before it closes.
But a month is too long, and the seller should be communicating about the delay. Once a refund has been decided, it should happen fast. Again, delays happen but the seller should be communicating with you to resolve the issue. Zach |

Communication is the key. It takes 15 seconds to send a PM-Sorry bro, I'm taking too long to get your parts out.
Especially frustrating if he spends as much time on this forum as the rest of us (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

inexperience is no excuse zack. if one is unable to find the time i personally find that a non-starter as well. p.o.s are open on sat where i live. MAKE THE TIME!
as with any endeavor if you're not prepared to finish the task leave them to those who are. just got back from the post office. pre-boxed parts, labeled them this am and poof they're gone. 30 minutes, tops. k |

If that's the way you feel you won't be supporting many of the folks here that have to make and sell things on the site, finding time between work and kids. You want to leave it to the pros.
And that's fine. But for most of us we don't expect 30 minutes turn around. We do expect communication with the seller when delays happen. For this issue, if the seller has been blowing you off for a month - out him. Zach |

I've had a few things take a week to get out. No good reason other than life & being busy. Typically when I list something I have been ready to ship it quickly. A little delay is not a problem if people know about it. Let's be realistic anybody making a living selling 914 parts. Is a hell of alot smarter than I am. I've lost money on parts so many times it's damn near funny. I don't care I just enjoy screwing with 914's. I think everyone shopping in our classifieds knows what to expect. We are dealing with used stuff & typically pretty cheap used stuff. Amazing how sometimes this cheap stuff can put a big smile on your face (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

The Cap'n Yeah, my thinking is, if that's how long banks allow, that is how long you as an individual should allow. I think it's logical anyway. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

As a seller and a buyer from time to time, I figure I run the risk of buying used parts, and if something doesn't work with something I've sold I make it right.
Not replying in any way for over a month is just plain wrong..... |
