problem solved - see added edits in original post above A. Kennedy says there are TWO PP differences: 1. the bolt holes issue (they elongate them (the say "notch") to solve this) and 2. the diaphragm fingers on the correct one for Porsche have no flats at the T/O brg (mine is this style) B. There are also differences in the bolt-on adapter ring and starter ring gear 1. their early version was a one-piece adapter/gear - the PP was designed to be a very tight fit inside that ring, so there were no PP locating pins needed - that supplier went away 2. their current newer version is a 2-piece ring with a replacable ring gear; it uses locating pins for the PP, and the therefore the PP is not a tight fit in the ring - (price for this later type item is $170) (fwiw - the Patrick conversion is not made the same way as the KEP) the KEP "225" version without notched holes, and with flats on the fingers, is for VW Bus setup (914-4s etc may use this ?) Kennedy is fixing this - notching the bolt holes on my PP - no charge - - hurrah !!!! C. we discussed the "apparent oversize of the PP diameter - they say that it "should pull into position" with the bolts for a very tight interference fit - as described by other post - but maybe i'll have to chuck it on the lathe for trimming the OD if not . |

p.s.
KEP says that they have no adapter or conversion setup that uses the 245mm g50 FW - but apparently Patrick MS does have such a setup If you are using the stock 3.2 flywheel, you will also need an adapter ring from KEP. The pressure plate bolts to this ring. Otherwise they also sell a complete flywheel designed for there 228mm pressure plate and disk. |
