this is with the suspension on the bump stops.....oops!
It's (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif) time.
Dunno if I can stretch the fender far enuff to clear, but we're gonna find out.....this could get ugly. At best, there'll be 4 primered fenders.

Here is my take on Negative camber: You are only going to lay down a certain amount of tire based on your driving. I feel that very very good drivers can use more negative camber than a rookie. You send a rookie out with tons of negative camber and he wont use all of the tire. There is NO magic camber number. Some tires work better with more negative camber than others. I want all of the tire on the ground in the corners. With that statement: how fast are YOU going ??

I had this conversation the other night with a friend of mine that runs a RSR EVO in the POC. He kept going out on setups based on other cars that ran the same tires as he does. He pulled out almost 2 degrees of negative camber from the 4 they had in the car.. he was 2 seconds faster than his closest competitor. So be careful "listening" to what others have to say about setups. What works for somebody else may not work for you. You need to find out what DOES work for you.

TonyC has a ton of info on this and will hopefully pipe in with some beginner settings for your Kuhmo's. I know of 2 fast people in 914's that run Kuhmo's, the rest of them are on Hoosiers.

Good question.
I had to go out and hook up a tie rod and find out.
At normal ride height, it doesn't rub anywhere.
There appears to be clearance on the inside for compression. My 205s did rub a bit, tho on the other side of the car and at full lock. Didn't bother me at all while driving.

At full compression, who knows. I can't hardly turn the tire then as it rubs on the outside fender. I've got the bump stops set to provide 2 inches of compression below normal ride height. Comments?

The old Kumho's (victo-racers) on a 914/mid engine car will probably want 1.5-2 deg. The new Kumho's (exsta) will want 2-2.5 as well as the Hoosier's. However as Brad said, how much is largely determined by how hard the car is being driven. Along with a whole bunch of other factors, roll rate, tire width, wheel width, weight bias, bias of the car(understeer/oversteer), braking, ect. The above numbers should put you in a good ballpark though.

The car is being set up for a fast guy, not me. I'm not exactly a beginner, but I'm about 1.5 sec off his times in a 50 sec AX in this car. He, in turn, runs bout 1.5 sec off the times of the fastest looser in the parade a few years back. Can't think of the winners name...a green 914.

The Kumhos are temporary....till they wear out. Then Hoosiers. The suspension settings are temporary, for that matter. Actually dirving the car will tell us which way to go.

As to listening to what someone tells me...what do you think I'm doing? These guys are contemporary AX drivers.....and fast. Who should I listen to?

In any case, I'm willing to listen to advise....from anyone.

JP,

I was running 225/50/16's on 8" wide Phonedials for a bit on the front....the only issue was hitting the very bottom of the fender lip at the front.......

Since I'm droping the ride height a bit, I'm gonna have to get out the (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif)

If I wasn't lowering it they would "almost" fit.

I bet the name was Ferguson. Dave and Ellen Ferguson took mens and ladies TToD at Parade about six years back, the first couple to do so *ever*. Bonus--they had just transferred over to Loma Prieta Region, my home region, at the time. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
