Actually, I don't think it's a bad thing to publicly flog him... Eric is a bad - bad person. He has sent his damned jewelry-like brake calipers to me multiple times. I think he likes it...

you all know that 914/6 cars don't NEED rear vented calipers right?

I took my rear vented calipers OFF of my race car to save weight and have never EVER had a problem with over heating solid rear rotors on teener race car in the last 15 years... use the right pads, perhaps power slot the rotors.

I am of the opinion that this is a bragging right that actually makes you heavier and slower...

I would like to hear of any teener that needed them
I know 250hp race teeners with 12inch wide rear slicks and real rear aero that don't need vented rear rotors.

Brant - I'm sure you are right. This is a want, not a need. It will match the vented Brembo's on the front. The brakes were old ferrari calipers so the spacers were all ready built in.

But... Although I haven't weighed or priced the vented rotors vs the solid ones, I don't think the weight or the price is that much different, at least for my application. I think Eric's sale price on vented rotors is less than the cost of the solid 4 or sixes.

bulitt - Is 2 pairs a collection? I should probably sell one before I get two carried away...

I don't think the cost is much different.
but 911 rear vented rotors have material built in for the 911 style parking shoe... this large hat adds more total weight...

I think its about 10lbs total between vented and non-vented

I think these are way cool brakes..
but I also strongly believe that 914's don't need vented rotors for performance reasons.... only for cool factor. And they can be a performance disadvantage just like heavy wheels that are "cool" or .....

Or some of them there Alfa aluminum brakes that would offset the extra weight in the rear... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Oh no...you can't use those...I am afraid they would flex too much. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stirthepot.gif)

Alright I will remove them from my race car for next season and report back.
I will pull off the vented rotors too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I removed them from my race car 7 years ago
I think you will find that you will save weight and give up nothing in brake heat-sink capacity.

I took all the brakes off my car years ago and saved a ton of weight too. The jack-stand performance wasn't effected at all. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

remember the old saying....
brakes equal slower lap times

1826lbs wet with an all metal car and a -6 motor takes some effort
