I spoke with BKLA yesterday and we may at least be able to get a parade lap at the Oregon Raceway

Parade lap is cool...As long as the pace car is going 100 MPH. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif)

It take about two laps at 100 MPH just to warm up the tires and brakes!

As of right now, I'll be there with my wife. But she doesn't really care about track or AX events. Are there going to be other wives there who would like to join her in sightseeing, wine/beer tasting or other events? Local knowledge?

My wife will be there too. She may need some distraction as well. Talk her into organizing a Women's event day. If she plans it, they will come...

There are a great number of local attractions, museums and events in the gorge area. Significant others who are not interested in car related functions will have plenty of things to do and explore.

Here are a couple of links:

http://www.historicthedalles.org/

http://www.el.com/to/thedalles/

I created a list of a number of other interests and will provide that info (and more) as we get closer to the event.

Mine will be there. Probably the boy and his girlfriend will be there too

PS Stonehenge will be on part of the event schedule, just trying to get it all together in the next week or so.

I strongly suggest that the route back to The Dalles from Maryhill be via Goldendale and 142 to Lyle. There is a section along 142 in the canyon that doesn't have a center stripe. It is two-way, but you can use the whole thing as long as there is no opposing traffic.

WCR 2013 The Dalles, OR - Shilo Inn, June 13th- 16th

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/first.gif)

Proposed Bay Area caravan route:

- Leaving Wednesday, June 12th

- Driving up 101 north along the coast to Bandon, OR and stay overnight. Estimated driving time: 9 hours.

- There's a nice motel at the beach in Bandon that we stayed at on our way to the WCR in Seattle.

- Leave Bandon early on Thursday morning, continue north on 101 and cut over to Portland using 18.

- Pass through Portland and drive east on 30 to The Dalles. Estimated driving time: 7:30 hours.

- Going back home is either the reverse (preferred) or if we're in a hurry, we can just take 5 all the way down.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

We would definitely join you guys on that run.

Back ion the 80s we took the 75 914 to Seattle, up I5 and back down the coast. We planned a 5 day trip back, going over to Long Beach and then South. Took 4 days to get to Eureka, CA. There were enough RVs, moving road blocks and reasons to stop on the highway to keep our average speed down to under 40 mph.

Beautiful tri and we'll do it again if we have more time.

Yes you can book the rooms no problem They have set aside 15 rooms at this time.
Contact the hotel Directly We will have a parking lot in the back there should be enough room for the trailer or two.

Let him know you want the 914world rate of $99 a night. Should be the same as the AAA rate.

I should be there with wife and Pugs, is the hotel pet friendly??
If not, I'll bring the MH and find a RV park nearby. If no wife and no Pugs, then no problem.....I'll drive the 914 on her own.

I have not checked, but a call tomorrow would answer the question. I too have a pug that I'm sure my wife would love to bring. I have the day job tomorrow, would you mind checking and posting back.
Thanks,
Mark

Those with dogs are O.K. They have pet rates.

My reservation is in. I'll have my wife, and my 2 youngest kids with me. My wife and daughter will probably do their thing while me and my son do "manly things". (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

Looking forward to this!!

BTW, I may not be in the 914 this year. The Squarsche is almost more fun to drive than the 914. It's way faster too!!
