Will standard engine stand work or do I need the adapter ring / bench type?

Why won't a IV case bolt up to regular stand?

The standard engine stand that I have would not bolt right up to the t4 motor due to a clearance issue with the bottom arms. They were too thick to fit onto the case and put a bolt in because of the lip that runs around the case at the flywheel. Plus the arms were too long to adjust properly. I fixed this by attaching a 16 inch piece of angle iron to the bottom arms and then bolting the motor to it. I like it alot better because all of the adapters I have seen only bolt to the top of the motor and seems a little scary holding all the weight of a fully dressed motor. This way I have a four point attachment that spreads the load around. I will try and post a pick later today.
