Dry sump it and be done! The rest becomes much less important, anyway, your crank should not be down in oil, if it is, you got bigger problems than what a knife edge will fix. The cam is down there more than the crank. I would hate to think I have 8 lifters pumping oil up the push rod tubes! That would be a big HP robber. Note I said tubes and not pushrods, oil travels up the pushrods and drains down the tubes.

If you are worried aboout it get a good balance job, everything needs to be balanced from fan bolts to pressure plate bolts, and you need all of it indexed for assembly. With out indexing how do you know which piece went where when balanced. Get it as close as you can, you can spin it up to 8K, and not worry about it. It won't feel like a single cyclinder cafe bike, which I love to ride, but thumper comes to mind. When you pick a balancer make sure you look at the jobs comming out of the shop, as for a referance and see the work. If you see them drilling stuff, then walk away, if they don't give you piece of paper with all the indexing and weights walk away.

I would pay the 2-3 hundred on balancing before I would do anything else. After that the proper cam, and then head work, then down hte list from there.

Alright there are two ways to look at this.
1. Balance it and leave it alone. Much easier, and cheaper.
2. My way:

Call Moldex and tell them you want a fresh Billet cut.
Honda Rod bearings,
T4 rod bearings
Cross Drilled oil passages
Gun Drilled Mains and Rods
Not a big believer in Knife edging, but an aero treatment should be applied to the counterwieghts. The leading edge should be rounded to a blunt profile with a nice 0-10 degree taper to the trailing edge of the crank.
Scalloped Cut counterwieghts
Center balanced
Polished
Shot peened
Cryo treated
Coated with an oil shedding coating
Should be able to get the wieght down to 15-18 lbs


LIghtening a crankshaft will increase harmonics. These will shorten the life of the crank and bearings. Just a By product of the lightening.
