Hey guys. I installed longer wheel studs when doing my 4-5 conversion and guess what..
They are TOO long? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) How can I cut them and not F''k them up? I have an air cutter (kind-a like a die grinder). I have used it to cut fiberglass and it workes great, but not too sure about the studs? Has anyone cut about 1/2"-3/4" off a wheel stud before (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif) Cheers Kerry |

find a nut that fits the studs. screw it on above where you are going to cut. when done cutting, unwind the nut and it will clean up the threads.
as to the cutting tool of choice.... the ....clueless! |

On the front I'd install a spacer to increase the track. It should reduce understeer and make the car handle better.

I had the same problem, so I machined off the top of the aluminum nuts to make 'em work, I've heard that you can torque the nuts until the top breaks off, but I don't like that idea.

I don't feel too bad now. I would hate to see how many things I have done and then had to undo beacuse of I got too far ahead of myself.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Thanks again (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Kerry |
