QUOTE(Sparky @ Nov 11 2004, 07:19 AM) QUOTE(ClayPerrine @ Nov 11 2004, 07:10 AM) Navy I can understand... they just ride around in ships and sleep late. But the Marines? I thought they actually worked for a living. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol2.gif) Hey Clay (IMG:style_emoticons/default/finger.gif) As for the marines, well their pay checks are endorsed by the Department of the Navy.... I gotta pick on the Navy/Marines. My family has always been it the Navy. My grandfather was a DI at Great Lakes during WWII. My uncle was in the Navy during Korea. Two of my cousins were in the Navy, and one in the Marines. So I joined the Army just to be contrary. And remember, the Marines may be the first to come ashore, but they always find US Army Airborne troopers that have been there for hours softening it up for them. One reason you see few Marines here compared to the others is easy to explain.
Less than 1% of the US population claims the title. 1.5% tries to claim the title but can't make it off Parris Island. (that was the statistic when I was in atleast) The Marines are department of the Navy, but thats just so the squids will have someone that can actually fire a weapon help save their asses...LOL. But our corpman and doctors are Navy so it all works out. |

USS Hornet PBR Mobile Base One, Tan My, Viet Nam USS Ticondaroga Air/Sea Rescue, Guam Chief Engineer, USS Wanachee USS New Orleans Comsubron Fifteen Connavsurfpac Comsubgru Five USS Jason USS Acadia Made Chief in less than 10 yrs, went to war with a admiral at 12 yrs over a illegal order, never got a promotion after that. Evaluation I'm the most proud of has this line in it Chief Traver does extremely well with enlisted and jr. officers, however, he sometimes shows a decided lack of tack and diplomicy with senior officers. I told 1 admiral, and quite a few capt's and commanders to go Fuck Themselves. I kept them honest, they didn't like that. I retired with 20 years good conduct, my honor, and my integrity. That's good enough for me. |
