Are the pads the battery sits on worthwhile?

Pads help if you use a traditional battery. They are not perfect. Best bet is to get a closed battery like Optima. Lots of threads on the subject

Annual removal of the battery and washing the entire area with a mix of baking soda and water in a spray bottle, with a rinse of water also does wonders.
Baking soda is a base that counteracts the acid from the batteries and , for me anyways, is a typical annual job...not fun but satisfying to see all the hard work is still clean. I do this to all my lead acid battery cars.... I also touch up any paint issues at the time. You need to remove the computer from its location and twist upside down to get into all the right places. I have added an additional drain tube at the lowest point of the longitudinal with a small pipe welded in to divert any draining around the heater tube abd out below the longitudinal. BUT Paper towels and a good thorough job also works... rich |
