The Blond now has lotsa extra HP. What ta do? Houston is not San Diego. My 1974 911 had A/C. I still (well, Mike L has) have the A/C compressor.
IF I do this...who make lines, the condensor and the evaporator/blower... Or does anyone have a setup? I should have saved all of that from 1974 911. |

Dear, the parts I just sold paid for that part ;) Group: Members Posts: 1,568 Joined: 26-December 02 From: Williamsburg, VA Member No.: 16 |
Red, if you end up needing hoses made and can't get them locally, let me know. I made my 914-4 A/C hoses last year.
If the 914-6 thing works out I may be using my DPD system in the six this summer. The dealer installed evap's are plenty big enough for the teeners. I am running R134a and get good vent temps in mid to low 40's. If I had a second condenser or one better primary I could get temps into the 30's. Let me know if I can help (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif) |

Where did you find the parts for the Evap and the condensor?

I just gathered them over time. To me the biggest thing was to get the DPD evap in good shape. A new condenser will run you $120'ish, TXV for the old DPD will run you $30, drier $35, Hoses $100, new condenser fan $60-100, and then the bracket mods are DIY.
Some on the this list is selling some A/C parts. I'll see if I can track down the post. CHeers |

I've got this Volkswagen Products Inc. underdash unit sitting around taking up room in the garage you can have for the cost of shipping. Has blower, condenser and some sensors on it. Appearance wise I would say it is in very good plus condition with all vent controls operable. Has mounting brackets. Have more pics if you need to see more. BTW bought that last 901 from Mike and am very happy with its performance.

I have AC in the wifes 914. On a 100 Degree Texas day it will freeze you out of the car. DPD unit.
I have made AC compressor mounts for a /6 engine that does not require cutting the firewall. Picts in a previous post on making Captn Crusty scream. Gotta use a Rich Johnson mount if you want to use my compressor mount design though. I ain't selling it. If you want one, I will send you detailed picts and measurements and you can make your own. |

Glad you're enjoying the Tranny!!!
Mike is sending me a care package...If you can drop it off over at Dr. Evil's place or arrange to have him pick it up, it can go to Texas. Care package will include: My Front Valence A 2.2T Engine My 911/914-6 Sport Exhaust The 914-6 is just not quite loud enough. I want to set off car alarms again! I'm sure I'll figure out a mount. I don't think I'm going to switch the engine mount just to fit the compressor. Send the info along, maybe I can mod it to work with the factory mount. |

Get the underdash unit - it's the blower and evaporator and has the capillary valve.
Any A/C shop should be able to make hoses. You should also be able to get the filter/dryer and condensor coil from them too - GM, Ford, whatever they function the same. Use the Sanden SD508 rotary compressor instead of the stand up York. A machine shop can make a bracket to mount it somewhere. If you need the DPD installation instructions, email me and I'll copy them for you. |

I already have the RJ mount designed for a duel pulley. I'm in the process of putting AC in my six. I'm planning on using all new parts from Hot Rod. Very reasonable. http://www.hotrodair.com/pg2a.cfm |

Here are the pictures of the compressor mount.
(IMG:http://www.perrinefamily.org/photogallery/ac6/jpgA.jpg) (IMG:http://www.perrinefamily.org/photogallery/ac6/jpgB.jpg) (IMG:http://www.perrinefamily.org/photogallery/ac6/jpgC.jpg) (IMG:http://www.perrinefamily.org/photogallery/ac6/jpgD.jpg) (IMG:http://www.perrinefamily.org/photogallery/ac6/jpgE.jpg) (IMG:http://www.perrinefamily.org/photogallery/ac6/jpgF.jpg) The compressor mounts above the RH valve cover. This makes the spark plug on the right front difficult to change. The RJ motor mount has a bracket welded to it to support the 2 idler pulleys. I got the compressor and the idlers from ICEAC, they are used in their type IV kit. The compressor is sized correctly for the DPD or VPC unit, and it uses R134a. The crankshaft and fan pulleys are from Clewett engineering, from their 911 serpentine belt setup. The tenisioner is the timing belt tensioner from a Nissan VG30 V6 (300 ZX, Maxima, etc). It's eccentric and allows you to tension the belt easily. The setup is still assembled on my engine. When I tear it apart to send it to the powdercoaters, I will take detailed pictures with everything laid on a ruler if someone wants it. |
