There is a "1971 Porsche 914 20k Original Miles" for sale on Samba in Texas and I noticed the exhaust came out the rear on the right (passenger) side. Is that normal? Aftermarket? Just wondering.

Not normal. Usually exits out the drivers side. That said, lots of aftermarket choices out there.
