in anycase, i plan on making more power with the current 2.0 "mystery motor" than i would with a D-jet'd 2056 (that engine ran strong -- and may again -- but i'm dubious that i had more than 95 hp)

Nathan

Keep in mind that in Bx, you must have a Production legal motor (except carbs are allowed). That means stock displacement, stock compression, and most importantly, a stock cam.

Any compression over 8.0:1 means Br.
A non-stock cam automatically means Fm.

I don't know what your mystery motor is, but it's hard to believe that with stock disp, stock compression, and a stock cam that you are going to make much more than stock power.

Supposedly.

Of course, as we have proven lately - you don't REALLY know what is in your engine until you tear it apart (unless you built it yourself).

Sometimes ignorance is bliss isn't it?

GGR rules are extremely restrictive when it comes to engine mods.

Brad, My car does that too in AXs, check out this picture of the other side.  I take the sway bars off when I run as well.

i'm not brad, but there are 2 things i can think of right now (with the rear sway bar disconnected) ...

1. not enough suspension travel
2. trailing arm bushings are sticking

look how the tire is still well under the fender. it seems stuck up there.
so either you changed your suspension to a point where it does not have any travel anymore or the trailing arm bushings are sticking and you're fighting your bushings ...

Rob,

Check your inside control arm bushings. That is what goes first on the drivers side control arm. The drivers side ear NEVER breaks unless the car was hit in that side previously. Jack the car up and see if you can move the tire side to side (not top to bottom like checking wheel bearings) I grab it from behind and try to move it side to side. It may require some effort.

Demick,

with a 1.8 or 2.0 motor and aftermarket FI, would I still be okay in Fm??

Isn't FM anything up to 2.2 liters?

As a member of SVR I would like to thank those of you that came out for the event at Infineon - it was great to see such great support. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/clap56.gif)

Many of you may be aware that SVR had a very nice series going back many years running at Mather Air Field. A very large flat lot with surface changes between concrete and asphalt. It was fast and big. Unfortunately a few years back all of the Sacramento area autocross groups could no longer gain access - our last even at Mather was 2 weeks after 9/11.

Frederick (SVR Competition Chair) and Matt (SVR Autocross Chair) are working hard to bring back our series - and as I understand it we have 6 events scheduled (one is a zone event with Yosemite) in Stockton for 2005. I hope many of you will find time to join us for the fun and help us in 2005.

For those not aware, SVR's series focuses on driver education - and we strive to have enough instructors available. I convinced Larry Sharp (yellow RS as seen in the photos above and 2nd overall) to lead a group of novices on a course walk. I am sure we will have similar activities in 2005 - please stay tuned. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

As for broken ear for the right rear control arm... that was a new experience for me. In the last several events I was thinking the car was a bit squirly - but I just put it down to colder weather, slick surfaces (Candlestick) - now I am suspecting (as Brad stated above) that my right rear was steering on it own for a while. The photo that Brad posted - indicates how far wrong it was. Looks like repairing #21 will be part of my winter project list. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif)

Hope to see see you next season! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wavey.gif)

Steve,

The 914club will be there for SVR. I'll make sure we drag out a min. of 4-5 cars per event if not more.

Theo, this is just my test exhaust. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol2.gif)

I talked to a club member today who thinks my motor could be 2.2 due to the non-vacuum advance dizzy.
130-180 hp depending on "T" or "S" cams

What a/x class do I fall into from Bp?

I thought that event was run very smoothly and professionally. My family and I will definitely be out to the Stockton events next season. My daughter turns 18 next year and has expressed interest in giving it a try. We may field 4 drivers splitting time between 2 cars. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mueba.gif)

I'm the PCA-SVR Competition Director and one of the coordinators of the Infineon event held on Sunday. The AutoX Team, Matt Deter, Kerner Breaux, Steve Goltz and myself hope that you had a great time on Sunday. I see some great pictures posted on this forum and I would like some forwarded to me so we can put them in our next PCA-SVR newsletter. Please send them to fdr@fdrmotorsports.com.

I wanted to mention that we have an option to have another autoX at Infineon on Monday January 24th, 2005. At this time I'm conducting a poll to see if we can get enough attendees to run this event.

Our Stockton Fairgrounds AutoX dates for 2005 are as follows:

April 2nd
May 8th
June 4th
September 10th & 11th
October 1st

Please contact Matt Deter at porsche@deter.com if you would like to attend any of these events and also to be added to our notification list.

We plan to have additional AutoX dates at Infineon for 2005.

Thanks,
Frederick D. Rauch

I'd be in for an Infineon autox in January. Might need rain tires!

WOW. Thanks Fred for posting. You met "our" 914 group in Reno and had lunch with several of us in Truckee. I look forward to attending/running SVR events next year.

I'll call on Friday about the stuff we discussed in front of Ron Cain and company.
