Got the call from the dealer today. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

My Elise is about to leave the factory...

Which means a few weeks to port... a week in port for prep... and a little less than a week to the dealership...

May be a nice X-mas present...

So, maybe I can now organize a 914 fun run and have something fun to drive besides my SUV.

I saw a couple of these at Sears Point last weekend. They look like they could be quite the fun little racer.

But its not a 914... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

I saw one on the road for the first time last week. It was a red one on Marathon Key. Very nice. I'd love to have one. The rear styling is a bit funky, but overall it looks good to me. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)

BTW, concerning funky styling, I think that every time I look at the 914! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Amen brother. I could have a new Elise and a new BMW or Ducati motorcycle. Good thing I REALLY like my 914.

I've seen the same guy around my neighborhood driving his (yellow) elise at least three times. The first time I saw it was late summer, so I don't know why he got his so early. He looked like he was having a lot of fun driving it. I'm sure you will too!

Saw one in Hong Kong last week. They look much better in person than in the magazines. Even when they are driven on the wrong side of the road!
Cheers, Elliot

Karl send pics when you have ths Elise torn apart and the suspension powdercoated. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

They have a semi with a huge LOTUS banner on the side in Palm Springs next to the Spa Resort Casino. A bunch of Elisei(plural) sitting around. Getting setup for the Collector car auction this weekend.

So when do the upgrades start.
V-8 conversion (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol2.gif)
Big brakes (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mueba.gif)
then you have to inspect for rust by tearing the whole thing down putting it up on jackstands for a few years. All the while you whine to fellow Elise owners how much you miss driving your car. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Oh wait that only hapens here. Then a gain will the big Lotus (Elan)? engine fit? Then you have to name it something macho.

I have seen at least two driving around town recently...luckly I havn't been behind one yet, they just drove past...I think if I ever test drove one, I would have to buy one...hopefully in a few years I can pick up one used for a good price...

I saw them all over europe in 01, and the ones coming here have the better toyota engine/tranny setup...

I can't wait to hear your first impressions, congrats, I bet you can't wait to start flinging that around...

Congrats, Q.

The same week I finailzed my decision to put down a deposit w/ Steve Harris Imports our company announced the new policy. "All advisors will drive a sedan." (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) Oh well. I'll wait five years and get a depreciated one as a second car. (Sorry, 914 fans, but my teener will be headed for new pastures at that point.)

I love the Elise! Great car. Fantastic concept. You just gotta love the glued aluminium spaceframe construction
It's one of the very few cars that I'd consider other than a Porsche
For pure driving fun, I don't think you can buy anything else that would come even close without serious mods
Porsche could only WISH the Boxster was this much fun...

M

Since, the powerplant is a toyota engine out of the late celica/mr2 gt-s models, it's possible to turbo or throw on a TRD supercharger.

Celical turbo kits Don't fit in engine bay... it's a tight squeeze as it is...

Not sure how turbo friendly this car is... the compression is 11.5 and it has a variable cam. Plus Lotus has it's own proprietary fuel management system.
