It seems this owner just dropped a intake washer down, * gulp*
the intake, he seemed to quick to throw a magnet, before looking down, and this is when I arrived, (I was going to help check his fuel tank) he was having issues with rust in fuel line. so before I show up he had the pass. side carbs off, this is when I received the news about the washer down the intake. it seems to me, the intake valve was closing when the washer fell in. upon inspection, peering down, about a 1/16 gap, and see no washer. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) so, Question of day; who has good luck doing what it took/take to get washer out, w/o removing head, or heads. any Two cent worth is welcome, and entertaining (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) |

My son the same thing once, couldn't find washer with magnet, had to take the head off. Piston smashed the washer directly into the soft aluminum head.

amazing, I leave the taildragger to his problem,
After working on Beauty,(she'd having shifting issues) I test drive, and check on my neighbor. turns out they manage to suck out the washer with a shop vac, (my idea) threw the spark plug hole ( again, my idea) well that's awesome! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) because, I was not looking forward to having to drop the motor, remove the heads, and....... since you're there............... QUOTE turns out they manage to suck out the washer with a shop vac, (my idea) threw the spark plug hole ( again, my idea) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) Tape a smaller clear hose onto the shop vac and suck away through the spark plug hole! It may not fit through the hole pipe but it should stick to the end of the hose! |

Me n Henna walked over to see how's what's BS, I chat with the guy, who manage to suck the washer out. Kool motor head too, i asked him how he did it, He said he felt around and could feel something. (with hose) Now notice this, the washer so happened to fall down, when the piston at it's upper most position, smaller room to get away. Well it's out, and something tell me, It's just started. |
