Most of my autocrossing is spring thru fall with temps usually ranging from 65-105 degrees.

Since I have an AX tomorrow I'm thinking about dropping my usual tire pressures for the colder temps. It will be about 35-45 degrees tomorrow when I am running.

I'm running Kumho Victor Racers at 26F & 28R.

Since the sidewalls and tread will be stiffer all around, maybe drop 3-4 pounds all around? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Anyone tried it?

With temps that cold your tires are not going to heat up and you will need more pressure than you normally do. I'd be afraid of rolling the side walls over and possibly even breaking a bead. But I've never run in 35 deg temperature. Actually bowling's about the only thing I do in those temps.

Just my personal opinion.....I'd leave them alone. It'll be slick regardless, but everyone will have the same problem, no sense screwing up your turn in for a "maybe". Our last Ax was very cool... mid/high 40s & fog....no tyre heat at the front.....little teeny bit in the rear even with all the spinning tyre stuff. The pavement is a huge heat sink that sucks the heat outta tires. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

You guys are right.

What am I thinking?

Too much turkey and pumpkin pie. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I'm gonna run 25# all around and see what happens.

I might drop'em a few more pounds though. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
