I really enjoy the features in the Garage, as is.
Sometimes, though, I would like to go straight for the wrenches. I like to post and read some of the stories and jokes. It just seems like the "board" gets clogged with a lot of hurdles to the tech on occasion. Your thought? KT |

In the past...
The boards all go through a change as people sit on their ass in front of the computer over the holidays. It has been this way since I can recall. The "junk" always goes up from Oct.-Feb. when the weather is crappy for more than 3/4 of the USA/World. When people are building cars during the decent weather months... the tech articles are up over the drivel. B |

Cover your head. I suggested the same thing on the peli-crap board. It didn't go over very well. They absolutely blew up over it and criticized me to no end. What a bunch of assholes over there. Expect most to disagree on the idea, but I think everyone will be friendly about it here.

With only one type of car that this site has information about I don't know if seperate links is really needed. The other board I belong to for my Dodge Challenger is http://www.hotrodders.com . They have a seperate Bulletin Board link for tech stuff. http://hotrodders.com/forums/
But that site deals with lots of different makes and models. They have seperate links for seperate parts of a cars restoration. Engines, interior, exterior, suspension... It depends on how much time the admins want to put into the site. It basicly comes down to time spent monitoring the different links and navigation on the site. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Andy BTW: we have a "Classic Message Threads" forum with all the important tech threads from this forum plus we have the "914 Info" section ... |

Trekkor,
Like we talked about in our PMs, I understand your frustrations about wading through other stuff to find the technical nuggets of gold. While the off topic chatter doesn't bother me immensely, the thread hijacks can be a bit annoying. Especially when someone decides to comment on every topic... with little to add. But... the answer to this, IMO, is individual discretion. This is a pretty cool place to hang out... and some non-914 content reflects who we are as a group! There are times when I think a strictly tech forum might be good, but for the most part I think it would be boring. I can scan through things pretty fast to find the stuff I want. I think keeping it all one forum is the best way to go, but I do appreciate you asking the question. We should never act like what we have now is the best arrangement there can ever be.

thank you for the replys thus far.
It was lopsided early, then 50-50, now lopsided again. I guess what I want, is when I post an *important* topic to me, for it to be adressed technically and not become some little boop-boop-ee-doo for any passer by with nothing to say. I'm here to learn. Opinions are great. Experience is better. Blah blah, is...well...Useless. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) KT |

This has come up before but this format just seems to work here, I think that is why this board has so many dedicated members.
Check out pelican or any one of the boxster boards. They are lucky to get a dozen posts a day. We get that many in an hour. Reading about somebody's sick cat while your trying to figure out how to remove your input shaft seal is why I keep coming back. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |
