i plan on departing in the am on thurs. not super early but after the commute bs dies down. for way north folks i have an extra bedroom and lots of floor space to spare you leaving @ 3 or 4am. if anyone departing on thurs is interested in swinging by my house and traveling in a pack, let me know via pm and i'll send you my address. i live just south of hwy 512 and west of puyallup. we did this in 06'. much fun.

Don't add breakfast, Kevin won't make it, car will break or something. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chowtime.gif)

What time do you think traffic dies down? I can leave Bham at 8:00am and

cruise straight through, puts me down there at about 10:00am. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

nate, no. the escort went to a new home. picked up a clean 97' subaru outback wagon ltd last weekend. no follow on that one either.

nord, if you are leaving @ 8 the traffic should be ok except for the mt vernon hassle and seattle nightmare. use 405 to puyallup.

curt, i plan on fixing multi-grain cheerios. milk not provided.

rocky?

marc?

jeff h?

anyone else?

Hopefully a route with service stations capable of keeping our cars running. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

Unless you get really bad mileage, you should get there in one tank from Tacoma.

route to be determined by popular vote i guess. boring 84 or 14 up the wa side. more curves and less traffic on 14. a top off in tacoma area should make it to the dalles. there are a couple of Real gas stations along 14. one in stevenson and one in white salmon iirc. bear in mind i have to swing by a hotel near the portland airport before i head east. the group can go ahead if they want.

I should be to your house 10-11am, that should give us a drive clean all the way through even if we drive into Portland to get Jim.

Are any of our Western Canadian friends going to join us?

Kevin you should be careful in your LOGO wagon. Bush pilots in Hood River love those Subies.

there will be a new message on the answering machine specifically tailored for those who call after we leave. calls will be screened. no one is going to answer.

I was kinda hoping for a more inspired route as well like hwy 410 to 97 or some such. I-5 south kinda sucks unless you're going a long distance. I think I'll be heading down hwy 2 through Leavenworth. Then turn onto 97 south. For me, it'll be a lot less stressful than I-5 for 230+ miles and it gets me to the sunny side of the mountains quickly with lots of twisty sceenery.

Thanks for the offer, but I guess I'll see you all down there.

I wouldn't call it ambitious. I'd be looking at a miminum of 6-6.5 hours of seat time going 5 to 84 if traffic is clear. Remember that I would be dealing with ALL major traffic centers north of Sacramento and a bridge that's out just to get to 84. My route may take 1 hour longer than dealing with the 5 on a good day. MUCH more enjoyable and during the week, you often times have the blue hwys all to yourself.

I took the same route last year going to Ellensburg for my nephews Army commissioning and it was really smooth sailing the whole way. Blue hwys is where its at brotha. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I plan on leaving before 10AM thursday. Heading south on 101 from Sequim to Olympia. That usually takes 2hrs or less. I am up for meeting anywhere on I-5 after that, Chehails, Long View ????
I figure I-5 to 205 then head east on 84.
284 mi from my house 5hrs 34 min plus potty stops ect (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif)

I'm not able to leave until Thursday afternoon around 4:00,

I guess I'll be driving all by my lonesome (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) over I-90 thru Yakima etc.

If anyone else is getting a late start let me know.
