I might as well say it because if I don't somebody else will. We need more details - size of engine, fuel injection or carbs., what are you going to use the car for daily driver AX?

it's a stock motor with D-jet, if i remember from your previous post.
okay: -rip off the smog equipment. that's the air pump, egr valve, and misc equipment. plug ALL resulting holes in heads, muffler, air box, etc. -retain the FI, make sure it works perfectly. insure your MPS is well-calibrated -keep it ALWAYS in perfect tune -replace points with pertonix or crane unit -buy a header for the exhaust ($550 or so), or at least use the 73-74 2.0 HE's. don't use the 75-76 HE's. -if you're REALLY looking for that last 1-2 hp, fab a cold air intake with a K+N cone filter, a rubber coupling, and some ABS pipe. make sure you replicate the fittings for the FI and crankcase ventilation hoses. -prepared to be passed by minivans anyway. that's okay -- you'll catch 'em in the curves. QUOTE(73p914 @ Nov 30 2004, 10:53 AM) what about my mass flow air sensor. how do i bypass that also because i know it lowers power also... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bs.gif) who ever told you that needs to be kicked in the nuts (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) remove that and your motor will not work PERIOD...you need to read* and get some information on how your FI works before screwing around with it.... like mentioned earlier, better exhaust (header or heat exhangers from a '74 or older) will help the only smog an L-Jet should have is the cat. converter I believe (due to it being a better, cleaner FI than the D-Jet) your next jump to get an increase in power is to open up the motor and that gets expensive... are you sure it's been properly tuned up? huge differance sometimes just by doing that.... *do a google search for L-Jet, there are some great web sites out there for it... |

OH, you've got L-jet -- not D jet
don't bypass your MAS. you, ughhh, really need that. stick a K/N in front of it (though it won't filter as well as a stock paper) again, just make sure your FI is in top notch shape. |

If you are going to go to the expense of carbs, that would mean cam change and other things, if you are going to go that far, pull the motor out and install a small block chevy in it. Then it will really move out.

How long have you owned the car? Learn to drive what you have.
Stickey tires are the best bang for the buck upgrade you can do. You are not going to get any real POWER out of your motor with just a few simple tweaks. If you can dump 300+ pounds of unnecesary weight from the car you will feel the difference. If you have the money, get Jake to build you a motor. |

Jake says most of your power pluses are in the head work and valve train.
