Picked up a BMW 2002 engine that was free on craigslist. I went to pick it up in the teener, without knowing for sure if it was going to fit. Well, it did. Just barely. I had to take off the intake manifold.

What crazy schtuff have you put in your trunks?

It's a 121 head, and looks like it's a 1970 (70 on the block). Now I gotta keep my eye out for a free 2002 and I'll be set!

I actually thought for about 5 minutes about doing a 3 cylinder geo metro conversion. Just for the sheer absurdity of it.

Cool.

When I was 23 I moved in my first 914. It took 3 trips, but I can say that at one point in my life everything I owned had been in my 914 (including my dresser & foot-locker).

The PO of my 914 allegedly ( I never saw it) put a KEG in the front trunk and put Ice all around it. Then drove to a local drinking spot and tapped the keg. He said that when the cops showed up, he just pulled the tap and closed the lid........

We have put a months worth of groceries into a 914, plus 2 people. It always freaks the bag boys out when we start sorting the groceries by "what can get hot" into the rear trunk, and what can't get hot into the front trunk.

This is not intended to be a shameless plug but I've got an uncompleted 2002 project car for sale. (sorry not free) 1974 (I think no title) All new front end, ADDCO big sway bars, domed pistons, head shaved .121 over the max cut, custom made chain tensioner, 121 head (best one small combustion chamber), E12 valves(turbo sized big valves) schrick double valve springs, PACO reground base circle cam (7800 series), header, duel 40mm weber side drafts, mallory mechanical advance dist. Modified 4 sp. tapered roller bearing conversion in place of the weak ball bearings on the lay shaft. This car sounds like a small block chevy on steroids. A real Frankenstein motor.

These motors can really take the abuse. Forged steel cranks, special grey alloy blocks pre blueprinted rotating assembly. Ya I'm a BMW nut...
