September 14th - 11th Annual Lake Tahoe Drive

It is that time of year again for our Lake Tahoe drive. Our Lake Tahoe drive is one of the best drives we offer during the year, as it is the most "couple" friendly drive. This year we are changing things up a bit by adding some fun optional decals to the mix. The decals are of the image below, and are from the same type of decals we used for our Yellowstone and Grand Tetons road trip.

They DO NOT HARM you paint! If you wish to purchase a set of these re-usable decals as a moment of the drive, they can be ordered at our store: PURCHASE YOUR TAHOE DECALS HERE:
Cost for the two decals is $20

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/www.eurosunday.net-7786-1375384244.1.png)

Starting Point:
Date: 9/14/3
Time: 8:00am – 8:30am (Leaving on the 30)
Address: Starbucks, 4311 Town Center Boulevard, El Dorado Hills, CA 95762

Lunch Stop:
Time: ~12:30pm
Address: Harveys Lake Tahoe, 15 U.S. 50, Stateline, NV 89449
Parking: Back lot off Lake Parkway (first right off the parkway )

What to BRING:
Please remember your two way radio.

For those who wish to make this an overnight adventure, we are staying at:

Rodeway Inn Casino Center
4127 Pine Blvd, South Lake Tahoe, CA, 96150
(530) 541-7150
Cost for a single room is $89.00 a night plus taxes and fees.

The FULL day drive this year will cover 285 miles from start to finish. We will be exploring many of the great back roads around Tahoe, as well as stopping for a few photos along the route. If you wish to run the first leg to Tahoe, it will cover 162 miles of back roads.

Just a end of the week bump. Here are some answers to to a few questions raised.

1. NO - this is not a couples only drive. Any and all are welcome
2. NO - you do not need to buy decals. They are optional as noted in the post
3. There is no cost for the drive if you wish to attend

If you are attending please reply to this thread or email me at norcal.drivers@gmail.com so I can let the lunch stop know roughly how many of us are coming.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) We will be there. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) Is this drive for 914s only, or is it open to any sports car enthusiast?

It is open to any sports car enthusiast. It will be most likely 85% Euro but anyone is welcome.

Here are some images from last year. You can see all the images under past photos on the NorCal drivers webstie. We had 31 cars on the drive last year from McLaren, Ford GT, Porsche, BMW, Audi, Grand National and other (forgt sorry).

I got an updated from the recommended hotel that they have only a few rooms left. For those who are considering staying overnight, here are two other choices where some of the group is staying.

Green Lantern Motel
Phone:(866) 456-6835

Blue Lake Inn at Tahoe
Phone:(530) 544-6459

** If you are considering ordering a set of decals, please order before 9/9 so I can have them made in time. Please make sure to include your top two number choices when you order**

Drive is this Saturday for those who can make it.

A quick Q&A about the drive.

1. The drive is FREE, the decals are optional. If you want to go on the drive come on out.

2. If you want the OPTIONAL decal, you need to order by 4:00pm today so I can get the order in.

3. You do not need to stay overnight to go.

4. Main drive ends in Tahoe where some will stay overnight and other will go straight home down 50. Those who do the full loop will follow me on the second leg of the drive.

5. Decals will be passed out the day of the event.

6. For those who want to stay overnight, one of the drivers Craig in the blue ZO6 is setting up a trip to watch the Ferrari Hill Climb near Carson City NV. If you wish to join the group going to see this please email Craig direct at: craigcourtney@sbcglobal.net.

See those of you who are going this Saturday.

For those of you who are coming from the Bay Area. If you want a meet up point, you can use the following.

Starbucks
11861 San Pablo Avenue
El Cerrito, CA 94530

Suggested time:
Meet - 6:30am (get coffee and wake up)
Depart - 6:45am on the DOT.

I have no clue how many are coming from the bay so might park some place that you can see each other near the coffee =)

Well that was fun. Couldn't ask for better weather!

Sucks for the 911 Turbo who got pulled over less than 2 minutes after we got on the freeway though!

Here are some of the images from the drive that a few of you submitted. If you have more please let me know. We had everything from McLaren, Opel, BMW, Porsche, Audi, Lotus, Dodge, Corvette, GTR, and Mercedes. The usual eclectic mix of cars for the drives I put on.

Here are a few images. MORE images are on the website norcaldrivers.com

If anyone has not seen I am doing a two day drive down through Big Sur, Hearst Castle, and then back to Livermore the following day. Fun trip for you and a co-driver. Details are on the website or under the threads of 500 Miglia.
