Well, I finally found a early front bumper for $75.00 in real good shape. Had to drive 740 miles round trip to pick it up. From Chino Valley AZ. to Ramona Calif.
The person selling would not ship. Well it was well worth the trip, it had minor dents, but the chrome was good. Sooooooo today I drove 260 miles round trip to Metro Plating at Mesa AZ. These guys had templates for all kinds of bumpers, and there going to straighten and re chrome it for $300.00. I'll get it back in three weeks. Also found the original owner of my 914, and he had the top bumper pad, and sold it to me for $100.00. It's in great shape. So soon I'll be able to take the 916 fiber front piece off the 914. Oh, Metro Plating had a templet for my bumper. I'm a happy camper today.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) Glad you are finding the front bumper and everything is going back on the car originally; or, am I reading this wrong? Could have saved you a trip since I was going back to Flagstaff and returning to Oregon about the same time; OR, MAYBE NOT since this is the return trip where we got our Penske truck, trailer, and our 914 stolen. Did I read right? You are taking a 916 fiber front bumper off your 914? If so would you be willing to sell it to me since I am missing the one from my car (theft, you know)?? I will be going to Flagstaff the week after Labor Day to pick up my Jeep, motorized lawn mower, and to help with the Flagstaff Route 66 Car Show. I just happen to passing the road to Chino Valley and could pick it up. At this point, I do not care what condition it is since I do not have any and will need something to get the car licensed in Oregon. Here is hoping, Steve Hurt (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif) |

Is that for two bumpers (F&R), or just one? 10 weeks? Some platers in SoCal I found out, send their bumpers out for chrome plating in batches to Mexico, hence a long lead time. Is your guy doing it in-house? Just thought I'd bring that up. Andy |

Here in the Midwest there is a very limited availability of rare parts like chrome bumpers. The most respected chrome shop is in Quincy, IL. I had to ship it to them from St. Louis. |

bumpers do seem like one of the precious items found on cars being scrapped.
I scored a very nice painted rear bumper on ebay last month - $150 shipped. |
