I know it's hard to actually describe a problem, but it may get you a real answer.

Start with what is the exact thing you installed?

replaced to old 009 with a generic electronic 009 dizzy i got as a gift, lost box an paper work with Sandy. put yellow wire on pos of coil and black on neg. crank engine and no spark. have a 1.7 1970' 2 dell 36 DRLA. had spark with old dizzy? Have 12v to coil pos.

I don't have any experience with that type of dist, but, one side needs to go to the negative side of the coil and the other should go to ground. Maybe someone here has experience here to tell you which wire goes where, or try some parts places to get the right info.
The electronics is just replacing the points which do the same thing, one side to coil negative, other side goes to ground.
