There is a west coast seller in our classifieds that has been in contact with me on parts.

Sebring66 listed as a lurker. Company Carrera Parts does not do Paypal.

Can anyone vouch for this guy and company?

Thanks
John

John,

Go look at the thread "what did you do to your 914 today"

On the last page, garland posted some pics.
In one pic you will see the muffler, in another pic you will see the cross over pipe.

Wow, that muffler exits off the top. My original from the left end. The new from the right end. I have to compare on the exchangers, but I think the bias changes as well.

Well, to your original post, I believe cap'n crusty knows the guy who bought out Otto,s stash.
Not sure about his opinion on the guy, but send him a pm and see what he says.

Here's the old one

See how the muffler flips?

It might just fit, it looks like it angles down more. If I could get a tailpipe made to fit the valance.

Well well,

I purchased a part from him 2 days ago, he wouldn't accept paypal but took a credit card over the phone. Here is what I found odd, After processing I asked him when he will ship and he said that their policy is to wait two Fridays to make sure the card is good . (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

I told him to cancel the order and he says he will make an exception and ship this Friday.
He said that he would email me an invoice so far, none.
If I don't get a tracking number by the end of the day tomorow, I will dispute the charge. If he does good, I will report it here.

I bought a muffler from them; there was a bit of delay of two weeks, because they were shipping multiple used mufflers at one time. I was a bit nervous about giving my credit card and thought it to be a bit shady. They sent me a PDF of the invoice, not a hard copy. Its a legitimate business, but I think they have a learning curve. I think its a three or four man operation. Earlier this year I sent a query for sway bar bolts and the owner called me directly and told me it was expensive and they had them. Good follow through on queries IMO. In all, this business does not know the market and overprices. Would I buy again from them? More than 50% likely if I really needed the item. They were listing high prices and I offered less, but they politely declined my offer.

I've had PM communications and spoke with at least one of the guys on the phone. They're local to me (hanger at Long Beach Airport), so I would visit in person if I were to purchase anything. They seem like OK guys.

Their prices do appear to be above typical market value seen on most 914 classified forums. Make an offer and see what they say/do (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

I made an offer for a part in the classifeds and yes the asking price was high, but I thought it a point of negotiations, but same answer, no.

I can find the part elsewhere so I will. Taking a creditcard, but not paypal is not really a problem, but why the 2 week wait? It seems to be a business, so I don't think you have any issues about getting your parts, basied on the feedback I've seen, but you may find a better deal.
