Hey guys and gals I wanted to pass along info on a problem with a 50" Panasonic LCD TV I got a little over year ago. We absolutely love the TV, haven't had any problems until 2 days ago. I'm really glad we bought Sear's 3 year service plan. These TVs have a "lamp" that has a service life of about 10,000 hours which is a lot (atleast reasonable in my mind). The screen is supposed to give you a notice when the life is nearly up but we didn't get any warning..just zip and it was off. Had Sears send a repair man, he's ordering the lamp. Said the lamp cost $470 and the srv call cost $160 ...so $630 if I didn't have the service plan. Apparently the lamp is simple to replace too. Glad I don't have to pay...really consider those plans they push when making your next TV purchase.
