I go out to the Banana to open the front hood and grab the pull handle and it has a key lock in it. The ignition key fits and works the lock. I turn it to up and down and can not pull the release. I turn it to sideways and it will not pull. Any ideas? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

I have seen some that you have to really pull hard on to get it open. It needs to be lubed up so get it open and lube it up.

I have heard that before from some women in the past. Thats another story.

if the plastic housing breaks in the front trunk it becomes very difficult to open.
Ask me how I know! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

I'm waiting for engman to develop some new badass front trunk system. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif)

Mine pulls real hard too. I have to plant my feet and really pull . Give it another try, I'll bet it's just a little sticky.

actually,
it should only work on the full key not the valet key. The valet key should not open the trunks or glove box, only the doors and ignition.

Man I pulled with both hands had the kids push down on the hood tried the key both ways. Next step (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif) I got another hood from a 71 anyway.

There's supposedly another way to get it open through the front. If you pull the bumper off and actuate the mechanism with a screwdriver.

hey...mine took me putting a rope around the T handle and then around my waist and pulling to open..and the plastick sheath was new. I took the cable out...took the plastick sheath out...took both pieces down to a racing cart shop and they made a sheath out of that strong stuff and we just inserted my cable. Now I can pull it open with 1 finger!...cost me 15 bucks!

Mine is also a sumbitch to open. I suppose pulling the cable out and lubing it with teflon or something would sure help.

Question though --> when one uses hood pins on the front lid, do you typically keep the regular latch as well? (I currently have a steel lid but think hood pins will be a good safety measure even if I don't swap for a f/g lid.)
