After a long weekend and a bunch of troubleshooting I finally got all 4 cylinders. It turned out that the Ford spark plug boots were not making good contact on the plugs so I was getting a weak spark. Along with the rich mixture the plugs got fouled.
Aside from feeling like an idiot I'm pumped. Dave |

Isn't always the simplest things that make the smartest people feel dumb?
When I used to help my guys troubleshoot the 5"guns or missile launcher I always made sure tey understood exactly what the simptom was. Then applied the "KISS" rule. (Keep it Simple Stupid). Well great job on getting this project under control. Howz the weather up there will you be able to drive it today? |

This thing was just killin me. I couldn't sleep and was crabby. So, gettin this thing workin was a real relief.
I still have a lot of work left to get it on the road, but now I know it will work. Dave |

Nah, Dave just has trouble with spark plugs! Either pushing them in all the way or fouling up the firing order. Way to go! When can I swing by?? (I am on vacation now)

I'm tuning with a Techedge WB. I'm planning on dyno time but I can get the maps close first. I'll be home Thursday thru Monday. Visitors welcome but call first so I'll be sure to be there. I'm going to have to look at the plug wires. Either they were not on far enough and arcing to the electrode or they were on to far and shorting against the base of the plug. Next time I get to jung yard I'll pull a plug out of an Escort and see whats up. Dave |

I think it sounds pretty good but I'll need other opinions. I have 2 exhaust leaks to sort out so that'll change it too. Dave |

dave, are these the wires that require you to use the screw on connection tips that we don't use with the stock wires?

Ya they do, but, I left them on so, that's not it. I've got some extra wires and plugs so, I'll play around with them. Dave |
