thanks dave.

the wire looks very brown in the above pic but in person the wire on both sides of this fuse are light grey.

found: the flasher cube is in the area of the lights and hazard switches, i felt it clicking. its the tall black cube in pic.

the question remains, how is this flashing getting into my pump harness?

I just pulled the knee pad and I guess I will pull the light switch, the hazard switch and the relay from in the dash (and gage harness), so I can look at it better.

somehow power is going thru the flasher and getting into my fuel pump harness (flashing)?

QUOTE(jimkelly @ Oct 31 2013, 02:50 PM) *

seems my 14 pin plug has power at 12 and 14 pins with key off.

with ignition key turned, 12, 14, and 8 and 3, have power.

I was expecting one pin to flash with the hazards but none did. but I guess without plug connected to relay panel, that was an ill conceived expectation.

pins 11 and 6 are empty.

its got to be how I wired my fuse box???

What magic color is the wire on pin number 13? From the post above, hand drawn diagram on page one of this thread.

No meter needed to follow this wire...just unwrap tape and find it all the way back to a power source...you need to physically see where the wire is getting its power from.
Someone may have changed color of wire along the way...so look for the area that may have been patched.

trace that wire through the relay board (meter), through the tunnel...(eyeballs)
find it when it comes out of the tunnel harness and heads up towards the fuse panel.
Eyeballs again.

Follow it to power (eyeballs and meter)...it may be fed by the wrong side of the flasher relay and your flasher relay is broken, or just wired wrong.

I recall you stated that the area above the fuse panel had a meltown or fire....so who knows what they did when putting it back together.

If I had to guess, you've somehow midwired the fuel pump and hazard flasher circuits, maybe when the fusepanel was swapped. I would focus on those circuits, then recheck every circuit connection to the fusepanel.

it makes some sense but so hard to believe.

here is my fuse box before replacement.

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads/post-2460-1357326813.jpg)

I need an easy to read wiring diagram of a 1972 fuse box.

my fuse panel is wired almost identical to this 1974 example. with 2 differences being no wire to #3 and #11 on hot side/rear.

I do wonder if #12 is bridged from #11, though I assume so because my headlights pop up fine. and I assume #3 is bridged from #4 internally as well, cause my headlights low/high beams work too.

There is a wire misconnected somewhere. Here's the flasher circuit.

One test to try is with key on and FP on, try flashers and make sure the lights on all 4 corners flash.

something is wrong for sure as my horn and wipers don't work either.

I pulled fuses 1,2,3,4,5,6,and 12, and all caused the results expected. though low beams were reversed. from 1974 info.

ok, I tried it.

but before I did, due to looking at your chart, I remembered that I also have a new one-plug/spade master cylinder, so i pulled the plug.

I did the test, turned the key and pump came on, then I pulled hazards and pump stayed on and lights all flashed. then I turned ign off, pulled hazards and pump did not come on.

seems like the plug on the MC, a little green, could have been the problem.

when I reattached the plug to the MC, FP problem was still gone??? I expected it to return (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

I still have no wipers or horn.

I feel a little better now.

I am gonna put some gas in the tank and see if she'll start from the key.

I'll check to make sure if I have power to the starter solenoid and coil, from the key first.

horn and wipers (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) need for inspection/safety.
