I decided I might as well fix the trim that came with my car because I wasn't going to be able to afford a set that looked like new. First i used a baggie of sand and a small hammer to straighten it and press out the dents

Then I got out the sand paper and took off the finish while sanding down the high spots

Finished product is still a little rough, but the basic shape is correct now.

I'm going to see if i can get the parts painted with Spectrachrome as there's a wheel repair shop close to me that works with the stuff. I saw a demo of the product on one of Jay Leno's videos and it looked good. I know I'll have a chrome part rather than a polished aluminum, but the car is far from stock now and I want a clean look

I plan to take all that sail panel vinyl off and those bits you have been struggling with and make a brushed aluminum "cap" for my 914 some day ala a 911 Targa.

Is that aluminum or stainless?
