Here's a proposed schedule and format for COTM 2014. The schedule defines when the winner will appear on the home page, the format of the contest, and the date the voting for each will end (nomination and start of voting precedes these dates). The time between vote deadline and posting is the buffer for getting info from winner, distributing to Admin, and then posting.
"Winner Month"---"contest"------"vote deadline" Jan-Feb ----------Track Car ------NA (In progress) March-April-------Classic -------Valentines Day May-June --------Autocross-----Tax Day July-August-------Classic--------Ides of June Sept-Oct----------Track Car-----15-Aug Nov-Dec-----------Classic--------15-Oct Track Car = as done with Brant winning Jan-Feb 2014 Classic = the contest as always (no restrictions, first 5 seconded nominations are in) Autocross = a street legal car that has competed in an autocross with current owner/driver What say you 914World? If there is support, we could stick with this schedule/format. If the proposal is (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) then it can be modded to make everyone happy... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) I dunno. That implies that Track cars & AX cars can be part of the Classic car contest, but the opposite isn't true. The street legal sixes dominated the COTM before and would probably do so again for the Classic category. So it seems the street only fours would be left out in the cold under this format. |

Look at the bright side, won't be long till the narrow body 4 are rare. Great, it brings the value of the narrow body 4 up to snuff..

Well y'know, this is just a popularity contest, with both cars and their owners being part of that popularity.
Big sixes tend to win probably because those that vote tend to like them better (or rather, those that like them better tend to vote). (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) I don't see a problem with this. It's just a fact 'o life. No amount of leveling of the field or otherwise tweaking of the format is gonna change human nature! I like the format change to highlight non-street cars since they are more purpose-built and are hard to highlight away from the track. I kinda think AX should compete with other street cars. And that's enough outta me! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I still like reading the threads and looking at the cars, learning more about them is a great touch too. Maybe some lurkers *coughcough* will be drawn out of their holes, too. |

Rules? We don't need no stinking rules here. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) Next thing you know COTM would be limited to those that did their own builds. If that happens we'll be down to < 20 cars to choose from. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif)
