Tow question's
i have a 1970 914 with a tail shift transmission that gives me big trouble between 1st and second,iv'e changed everything that can be changed but still it crunches between 1st and 2nd.
I have 2 tail shift transmission's is there a way of testing these prior to fitting to make sure they are working properly
Secondly how easy is it to change from a tail shift to a side shift
Thanks

sounds like your trouble is engaging second.

sure you have good parts on your 2nd gear?

you'll need a SS shifter and all linkage too.

Changing requires you change the internal shift rods. If you do not align them right, you will make things way worse. You should learn to inspect the ones you have to see if it is worth it. With 3 boxes, you likely have all the parts to make a good one. I have a DVD to show you how if you need.

Asking here is good, too. Lots of transmission savvy folks here.
